1/11 the Silent Beginning
I hope the turning of the year has brought peace to your homes and hearts. If you’ve noticed my absence during the rush of the season, please know it was a choice of “Sacred Silence.” I tend to keep quiet during the noise of the celebrations to settle into the rhythms of the coming year, and I truly hope you all had a wonderful season.
It has been a while since I sat down to write. The year 2026 breaks down to a “1” in numerology—a frequency of new beginnings—but the journey started under the intense emotional waters of the Full Moon in Cancer. As a stoic Capricorn, my nature is to build and endure, often setting my deepest feelings aside for a “later” that never comes. But this year, the Moon demanded that I stop and honor everything I had stored away.
Six years ago, between Christmas and New Year’s, my mother passed. She lived a hard life, and the echoes of that hardship shaped my own childhood. Now, as a mother, stepmother, and a woman navigating this changing world, the “feels” of that Cancerian moon brought those memories back with a rawness that time hasn’t fully dulled. I chose to give myself the gifts of meditation, prayer, and tears, honoring her memory and the person I am today.
This period of grief has not been a burden, but a gift of compassion. It has carved out a deeper empathy within me for all of mankind. As we approach the significant 1/11 portal next week, I invite you to let a little more love seep into the world. Remember that the true magic of this season is found not in what you received, but in the love and honor you chose to give.
